Apple iPhone users enter New Year with glitch in alarm app

The app failed to work for alarms that were set for one-time use only

Apple iPhone users rang in the New Year with a glitch in the alarm application of their devices that failed to work on the first two days of 2011.

The alarm application on the smartphone failed to work for alarms that were set for one-time use only, as opposed to recurring.

The forum maintained by Apple has been flooded with complaints of the alarm clock malfunction. New Year’s day was when most of the complaints were being acknowledged.

It is the newer devices, such as iPhone 4 or any older models that have recently been upgraded to iOS 4, are experiencing the problem.

An Apple spokesperson said iPhone owners can apparently fix the glitch by deleting and re-entering their alarm settings.

Despite the assurances by the Smartphone maker that the problem would be rectified by 3 January 2011, some users reportedly are continuing to have problems with their alarms.

This is not the first time iPhone users have come across this problem. Earlier in the past, the switchover to day-light saving time, the daily schedules of millions who rely on their iPhone to keep them on schedule, was disrupted with a malfunctioning alarm clock feature found on the iPhone.
