Corel tries to enter the arena of CAD for Mac

Corel tries to enter the arena of 2D/3D CAD application for Mac with a solution that natively support DWG files, provides 2D and 3D design tools, customizable and supports major formats in the industry.

Corel has announced CorelCAD, created in a CAD for Mac parnership with Software-house Graebert German GmbH with native support of DWG files, and features industry-standard design tools, customizable 2D and 3D.

The application opens, edits and saves files in DWG, DXF and DWF files support, provides tools for creating 2D drawings, 3D design tools. There is no shortage of intelligent tools such as Snap subject guides, subject to Snap Guides and polarity feature allows Grip Subject to reposition, align, copy or resize objects. The properties window allows, however, to modify the attributes of objects, such as layer, color, line style, or copy the properties of other objects. The coordinates are customizable: you can create custom coordinate systems for building plan to align the objects in the drawing.

3D models can be viewed from different angles or rotated in 3D space interactively. Using the windows side by side can split a design into sections and set them to display the 3D model in different views, such as front, right, top and isometric. E ‘can also click on the shaded or rendered view or change the display mode. The modeling tools allow you to add 3D solid primitives in the design and use Boolean operations to merge, intersect, and subtract the bodies. E ‘can extrude or rotate 2D objects, move objects along a 2D or combine two 2D objects to create solid objects. As in all such programs can be cut, intersect solid, change the edges, surfaces and bodies of 3D solids.

As for the workflow, CorelCAD supports PDF, SVG and DWF. Support for ACIS object file format (. SAT) allows you to open and edit 3D models and save as an ACIS 3D design. The interface is customizable: You can create and store different configurations.

The minimum requirements for Mac: a Mac with an Intel processor, Mac OS X 10.5.8 or higher, 1GB of RAM, screen resolution of 1024×768 pixels. From the manufacturer’s website you can download a demo version (save and print disabled). The product price is $699,Registered users of CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4 and Corel DESIGNER Technical Suite X4 or higher are eligible for cross-grade pricing of $499 (US and CDN).
