Final version of Firefox 8 has made it to the Mozilla ftp servers, and brings amongst other things, speed and performance enhancements. It is largely regarded that this release resembles the end-user version – set to be released to public on November 8th.

Firefox has prided itself and built its success around being a lag-free, smooth browsing experience, and version 8 continues that tradition. There are a whole host of new handy features for you to mull over, as well as the to be expected array of bug fixes. You can check out the full change log below:

  • Add-ons installed by third party programs are now disabled by default
  • Added a one-time add-on selection dialog to manage previously installed add-ons
  • Added Twitter to the search bar
  • Added a preference to load tabs on demand, improving start-up time when windows are restored
  • Improved tab animations when moving, reordering, or detaching tabs
  • Improved performance and memory handling
  • Added CORS support for cross-domain textures in WebGL
  • Added support for HTML5 context menus
  • Added support for insertAdjacentHTML
  • Improved CSS hyphen support for many languages
  • Improved WebSocket support
  • Fixed several stability issues
