Intel Finds Design Flaw in Sandy Bridge Support Chip, Issues Recall

Intel support a design flaw in a chip recent discovery, code name for Intel 6 Series, Cougar Point, and has implemented a solution of silicon. In some cases, the Serial ATA (SATA) ports chipsets degrade over time, the performance or functionality of the SATA connection, how they affect hard disk and DVD. The chipset is used on computers with the latest processors from the second generation of Intel’s Core processors, codenamed Sandy Bridge. Intel has stopped supporting sending information to the factories concerned. Intel has solved the design problem and began manufacturing a new version of the chip carrier to resolve the problem. The sand bridge chip is not affected and no other products are affected by this problem.
The company expects to begin delivery of all updated chip customers in late February and expects the recovery of the total in April. Intel supports its products and is committed to product quality. For computer makers and other clients working with Intel chipsets, assigned or systems, Intel and its OEM partners to can accept involved the return of the chip, and plans to buy support the necessary changes or substitutions in plates or systems. Systems with chips only support sending since 9 January and the affected company believes that consumers are relatively unaffected by this issue. The systems can not be sold to end customers potentially affected second-generation Core i7 i5 and Core quad-core based systems. Intel believes that consumers can continue to use their systems with confidence in working with the manufacturer of your computer for a permanent solution. For more information, call the consumer at www.intel.com Intel on the Support page or to the OEM.
For the first quarter of 2011, Intel hopes that the issue is the reduction in sales to over $ 300,000,000, the company suspended the production of the current version of the chipset and will begin the new version. Income during the year, not significantly be affected by the problem. The total cost to repair and replace materials and systems on the market is estimated at 700 million. Since this problem started with some of the units sold and produce chips in the fourth quarter of 2010, the Company will be payable to cost of goods sold, to reduce the expected fourth quarter gross profit margin of about 4 percentage points from 67.5 percent, previously reported. The company will also charge a fee in the first quarter of 2011, which reported gross profit margin by 2 percentage points and the gross profit margin for the year by one percentage point.
