“It’s not a question of making just one. That, of course, can be done. The challenge is making lots of them,” the source said. “This is a quantum leap in pixel density. This hasn’t been done before.”
CNET reports that if manufacturers are not able to hit volume requirements that a 1600×1200 display would be more easily produced; however, we think it’s more likely would just forgo the display update until the 2048×1536 screens are possible.
The Retina display is expected to have a brightness of 550 nits which is significantly brighter than the typical laptop which tops out at around 350 nits.
